 Even
on the days you decide to cook, your self-catering holiday can be even
more relaxing by having your groceries and drinks delivered direct to

We
pride ourselves on our child friendly services. As avid
travellers
and parents to two small children we appreciate how much hassle
it can be to de-camp. With that in mind we have a supply of baby
cots, high chairs, baby monitors, bottle sterilizers, potties,
toy box, kiddie plates etc.. All are available on request
(subject to availability), so please mention your requirements
at the time of booking.
Once you are in your chalet, we can also help with baby
sitting. Chalet in the Mountains work in association
with Baby-Garde, a locally run babysitting agency. We can help
you arrange experienced, english speaking babysitters for the
day or evening (or both!!). All babysitters have been subject
to a rigorous selection procedure including checks on their
competence, their character and professional ability and each
babysitter is covered by civil liability insurance |

Lift Passes |
|
|
|
For
winter, there are a full range of passes available, from half
days to a whole season. You can buy passes that cover
individual ski areas only, several ski areas in the valley, or
the whole of the valley and nearby area (click
here or on the ski areas button for
more information on the ski areas).

Probably the best ski pass is
SKIPASS MONT BLANC which not only covers Les Houches and
Chamonix, but
also to all the other resorts in the Mont-Blanc area: Megève,
Saint-Gervais, les Contamines, Combloux, Praz sur Arly,
Plaine-Joux, Vallorcine, Cordon, and Courmayeur and Val Veny in
the Aosta valley in Italy. About 700km of pistes in all.
A 6 day adult
SKIPASS MONT BLANC costs around €210 and a child (5-16yrs)
pass is €170. Under 5s go free.
By comparison, a 6 day pass covering just Les Houches
(the nearest ski area to the chalets) is €135 for adults and €95
for children.
Alternatively, you can buy passes on a day by day basis
covering a specific ski area. For example, a full day adult
pass for Les Houches is approx €27 and €19 for a child pass.
Half day passes are available at a cheaper price.
Chalet in the Mountains
can arrange for your lift passes prior to your arrival so they
are waiting for you when you arrive at your chalet. This way,
you can avoid hassle and maximise your time on the slopes.
Passport photos, with the persons name printed on the back, must
be sent prior to arrival.
For
Summer, lift passes are also available. For walkers and
climbers they offer single or return ticket depending on the
itinerary for the day. These vary in cost, depending on
the lift, but approximately its around €10 single and €12
return. For downhill mountain bikers, its also possible to
get a daily pass so that you can do multiple descents in a day. |

|
Once you have decided to book a chalet with us, we also help you

services you may require for your holiday. Mountain Spirit is a
well established and reputable company of experienced guides and

For equipment hire, we highly recommend Cyprien Sports

well maintained equipment. This covers both summer activities
(mountain bikes, hiking, mountaineering, canyoning) and winter
sports (skis, snowboard, snow scoots, snow blades). Cyprien Sports also provide

Luna
Luge |
|
|
|

This fantastic night-time adventure
begins with a wild ride up the mountain by snowmobile – how wild? Well
that’s up to you, you're driving!
At the top enjoy the true Savoyard
experience of delicious fondu, a traditional dish of melted cheese. This
is a great meal to share with friends particularly when washed down with
plenty good local wine. And then its time for the descent by luge
(sledge). You can't be stopped for drink driving on a luge, but we
do urge caution!
All food and transport is included in the
price. Please contact us at
stay@chaletinthemountains.com for more details or to make a
reservation when booking your chalet.

Transport |
|
|
|
 By Air
The closest airport to Les Houches is Geneva, the airport to Les
Houches is less than a 1 hour drive. The airports of Lyon and
Chambery are also fairly close.
From our experience,
easyjet,
bmibaby,
jet2 and
ebookers offer some of the best scheduled flight deals.
Buses
Minibus services operate scheduled services between Geneva
Airport and the Chamonix Valley. Two of the
main services are
run by
ATS and
Alpybus, who offer a door to door service. Click on their
logo for more details.
There's a coach service directly from Geneva airport to Les
Houches. More details, including a time table can be found on
this web site. Once in Les Houches, there's a free bus
service connecting Les Houches to Chamonix and all the ski
areas.
Hire Cars
Although the bus services mentioned above are pretty good, we
would strongly recommend that you hire a car to make the most of
your visit. Most of the main car hire companies operate from
Geneva airport. Here are a few links you might find useful:
Easycar,
Europcar,
Budget,
Hertz,
Sixt, and
Avis. Often you can get also a good deal through the airline
you fly with.
By Car
Chamonix is only 560 miles from Calais and its motorway all the
way. In fact its possible to get on the motorway at Calais and
then exit with only about 10 mins drive before you get to the
chalets. French motorways are generally pretty good and
certainly not as busy as those in the UK (although they are toll
roads) - it should take you about 7 or 8 hours. Try the links
for
eurotunnel
P&O
seafrance and
ferrysavers for English Channel crossings. |
